Residential Design, Georgia Tech Solar Decathlon House
< Back to Project Gallery

Wide plank maple flooring milled at White County Mouldings was included in the 2007 Solar Decathlon House designed and built by the Georgia Institute of Technology, College of Architecture design team. The project took sixth place in the international Solar Decathlon competition hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy. Twenty teams of college and university students compete each year to design, build, and operate the most attractive, effective, and energy-efficient solar-powered house. The Architectural Group from Hardwoods Incorporated worked with the Georgia Tech design team to ensure that the flooring provided met the objectives of the competition. White County Mouldings and Hardwoods Incorporated have multi-site Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) chain-of-custody certification.
